Announcement Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences – Looking for internship for students in the field of Rural Development & Innovation

Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Science, International Development Management (IDM) course is looking for internship for its students as follow:

  • Second year students look for an internship from September till November (10 weeks)
  • Third year students look for 5 months (20 weeks) internships (Autumn/Winter or Winter/Spring)

IDM offers the students to specialize in one of the following three areas after they completed the first (general) year: Rural Development & Innovation (RDI), Sustainable Value Chains (SVC) and Disaster Risk Management (DRM).

Students at rural development & innovation (RDI), can do a variety of assignments during their internship as long as it is linked to rural development. Second year students and third year have the following assignment during their internship:

As information, the third year students have more skills and knowledge and are able to work more independent on certain assignments given by the internship provider.

Tasks that students could perform during the potential internships:

  • Support in the organization of (multi-stakeholder) events and workshops and promotion of activities and programs
  • Field and desk research in a rural development related area
  • Supporting the preparation of project/ business proposals, project management and funding acquisition

Some of the topics of RDI-students’ interest:

  • diversification of livelihoods to strengthen resilient rural communities (eg eco/agro-tourism, short value chains, socio-economic innovations for rural areas, eco-villages, healthy living, rural education),
  • nature conservation, agro forestry, food forests, eco/organic/permaculture farming
  • SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) related activities
  • rural and urban inclusiveness activities/supporting disadvantaged persons related to (ethnic) minorities & migrants, gender, generation (youth/elderly)
