On the occasion of Indagra 2019, the Dutch Embassy in Bucharest launched the Ideas Competition for Circular Agriculture addressed to students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral programs in the agri-food sector and other related sectors, conducted by Romanian universities.
The competition identified bold ideas with the potential to accelerate the circular approach in agriculture and the food industry, stimulating creativity and partnerships for concrete actions to support the future of agriculture on a sustainable planet.
The best proposals were awarded in a ceremony that took place on July 20, 2020, the big winner being the A.C.U.M. – Circular Agriculture in My University developed by the team of the Faculty of Agri-Food and Environmental Economics, Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. Within the program, Partners in International Business, the three initiatives implemented in Romania focused on the fruit sector – Holland Fruit House, horticultural – Holland Horticulture House and dairy – Holland Diary House, carried out in 2014-2019 train the trainers educational programs profiled on the requirements of the three fields.
The programs were developed in partnership by the agricultural universities in Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Craiova and prestigious educational institutions in the Netherlands such as Wageningen University and Research, Aeres University of Applied Sciences or Delphy, with the support of the business partners in both countries.
The programs included theoretical sessions addressing the latest technical and technological developments in the sector, practical internships and study visits, and were completed with exams to test the knowledge gained.
